Weekend Weather: Saturday Sun, Sunday Showers

Some rain arrives this weekend

The final weekend of summer will bring a mixed bag of weather - sunshine to start and showers to end.

Saturday is the clear pick of the weekend, with beautiful Autumn-like weather. The morning will start quite chilly with lows in the 30s and 40s in rural and suburban areas. We’ll start off in the 50s for more urban areas.

During the afternoon, with the help of lots of sunshine, highs will pop into the 70s. A few high clouds will drift in from the west late in the day.

That type of weather will be perfect for starting to draw out some fall foliage color in Northern New England.

Sunday brings mostly cloudy skies as a cold front approaches. Scattered showers and perhaps even some rumbles of thunder will develop with time.

Showers will begin during the morning hours well north and west of Boston before gradually sliding south and east. The risk of rain is highest during the afternoon and evening, but it certainly will not be raining from start to finish. High temperatures will be in the 70s to near 80, with a bit more humidity.

Some of that rain will linger into Monday as well. Unfortunately it’s unlikely we see a widespread meaningful rain out of this; most communities will likely see less than 1 inch of rain.
