Scientists Narrow in on Zone in Maine Where Metorite Could Have Fallen

The Maine Mineral and Gem Museum is offering a reward for part of the meteorite

Scientists were able to narrow in on the location in Maine where a meteorite fell on Tuesday morning.

Rob Matson and Marc Fries, aerospace scientists, were able to create a map to calculate where the meteorite fell in Maine.

According to the Maine Mineral and Gem Museum, the zone is an area three miles directly north of Rangelely and extends for about 10 miles.

The smaller meteorites are found where the zone is the widest which is where the zone begins.

The museum is offering rewards for any parts of the meteorite that are collected and $20,000 for any specimens that are larger than one kilogram or 2.2 pounds.
