A second dog breeder has pleaded not guilty to animal cruelty charges in connection with the deaths of two puppies found in a trash bag in Revere, Massachusetts, last year.
Fifty-one-year-old Dominick Donovan of Long Beach, New York, entered the pleas Friday during an arraignment in Chelsea District Court.
Prosecutors say Donovan and 35-year-old Jason Gentry of Swampscott killed two pincher dogs they were breeding because they didn't meet standards. The two puppies were found dead inside a trash bag behind a Revere gas station.
Gentry pleaded not guilty to similar charges Tuesday.
Donovan's lawyer, Jack Atwood, said his client had nothing to do with the puppy killings. He says Gentry only told police that Donovan killed the dogs because he was angry at Donovan over a fraudulent, unpaid $20,000 bill.
