Sen. Susan Collins will participate in a discussion of the health and economic ramifications of climate change for Maine at a Portland event.

The event is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Friday at MaineHealth. The round-table discussion will include the Republican senator and conservationists, farmers, medical professionals and representatives from the energy industry. Members of the panel will discuss climate change's potential effects on farming, fishing, tourism, public health and other subjects.

Other panel members will include State Rep. Russell Black, a Republican and Wilton farmer.

MaineHealth, the American Lung Association of the Northeast, the Maine Conservation Alliance and the University of New England are hosting the event.
