Man Convicted in Serious Boston Crash Sentenced

20-year-old Nikolas Papadopoulos was found guilty in January

A man was sentenced Wednesday for his role in a serious 2013 Boston crash.

It was a very emotional day in court as the judge read off the fate of Nikolas Papadopolous, whose negligent driving changed his victims' lives forever.

A video of Kevin Celucci playing with his son brought out many tears in the courtroom. On Sept. 6, 2013, moments like these abruptly stopped after Papadopolous crashed at a high speed into Celucci's pick-up truck.

Emotions ran high as loved ones read impact statements detailing the effects the crash has had on his three young boys.

Another victim was also badly injured in the crash.

In January, Papadopolous was found guilty of negligent operation of a motor vehicle. During his sentencing, he sat emotionless as his defense attorney tried to plea his case.

"He was very badly injured, himself," said defense attorney John Amabile. "He sustained a severe brain injury, and his entire family is decades by what is happening here.

At one point, Celucci had to be wheeled out of the courtroom. As the judge sentenced Papadopolous to a year in prison and a list of other requirements, his family couldn't hold in their remorse.

Papadopolous's attorney plans to file an appeal, however, the Celucci family wishes to thank all the first responders who helped during the tragic accident.
