Fatal Crash Closes Avon Mountain in Conn.

One woman was killed in a crash that shut down Avon Mountain on both sides in Avon and West Hartford on Tuesday afternoon. (Published Thursday, May 5, 2016)

A 33-year-old Simsbury woman was killed in a crash that shut down Avon Mountain in Avon and West Hartford around 3 p.m. on Tuesday.

West Hartford police have identified the woman as Kelly Gregory.

She was driving on Route 44, swerved and collided into a SUV that was going westbound, police said on Wednesday.

The man in the SUV was treated at a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, police said. 

The crash happened on the West Hartford side of the mountain and Route 44 has since reopened.

Renbrook School postponed a concert for grades 4 to 9 due to the road closure.
