Sexual Assault, Armed Robbery Suspect in Custody

Police have arrested a sexual assault and armed robbery suspect in East Boston.

Police say they have arrested a sexual assault and armed robbery suspect in East Boston.

On Saturday around 1:45 a.m., police responded to the report of an incident in the Eagle Hill section of East Boston. The victim accounted to police that she was walking home from work when a male suspect attacked her from behind, showed a knife, and demanded money. The victim said she gave the suspect a small amount of money and he sexually assaulted her before fleeing the scene.

The victim described the suspect to police and his description was broadcast over police radio. In a short time, a man matching the suspect's description was found and positively identified by the victim. When police frisked the suspect, they recovered the knife that is believed to have been used in the crime.

The suspect was identified as Eduardo Selvan Hernandez-Ortiz, 20, of East Boston. He is charged with armed robbery, indecent assault and battery, assault with intent to rape, and open and gross lewdness. He is set to be arraigned in East Boston District Court on Monday.
