Paxton, Mass. Animal Shelter Loses Kennel License After Fatal Fire

Lawyers for the shelter say the move will be harmful because the boarding kennel brings the shelter revenue and it was not damaged in the fire

Officials are suspending the kennel license of a Paxton, Massachusetts, animal shelter that lost most of the pets housed there in a fire last month.

Paxton board members confirm kennel operations will be suspended while they create regulations for the Sweetpea Friends of Rutland Animals kennel,

Lawyers for the shelter say the move will be harmful because the boarding kennel brings the shelter revenue and it was not damaged in the fire.

The suspension can be appealed.

The cause of the fire was undetermined and fire officials say it will likely remain that way because of the extensive damage.
