Shot 7-Year-Old in Good Condition

Boston police say the 7-year-old child, identified by relatives as Divan Silva, was taken to Boston Children's Hospital Sunday

A seven-year-old boy who was hospitalized after a shooting in Boston's Dorchester neighborhood is in good condition, according to hospital officials.

Boston Police say the 7-year-old child, identified by relatives as Divan Silva, was taken to Boston Children's Hospital Sunday with non-life threatening injuries. An unidentified 20-year-old man was grazed in the shooting and taken to Boston Medical Center.

The hospital previously said that Divan was released from the hospital, but have since retracted that statement and said he is still listed in good condition.

Both were shot at about 4:15 p.m. Sunday.

Boston police Superintendent-in-Chief William Gross said Silva was shot in the buttocks while riding his bicycle to a market. He was visiting relatives who live nearby.

The suspect fled on foot and police said he was wearing a red sweatshirt and tan pants.

Gross urged residents to reject a "no snitching" code of conduct and contact police with information.
