Shots Fired Reported in Stoughton

Police said incident 'is not random'

Stoughton police are telling the public that despite a report of shots fired late Saturday night, the neighborhood is still safe.

Around 11:15 p.m., officers responded to a shots fired call near 41 Hollytree Road. According to a news release from Lt. John Bonney, officers saw several people speeding away from the party upon arrival.

After investigating the area, officers found shell casings from two different types of guns.

"This was clearly a targeted event where two people were shooting at each other," police said. "This was not a random act in any way and the Tanglewood neighborhood continues to be a safe area for families."

In an unrelated incident, police are investigating the stabbing of a man on Pleasant Street Saturday at 2:10 a.m.
