Showers Expected for Memorial Day

We definitely were spoiled the last two Springs, but they certainly were atypical

We’ve talked a lot about how damp and cool it has been this May. We definitely were spoiled the last two Springs, but they certainly were atypical. I think after having such phenomenal weather, it makes THIS “average” weather that much more difficult to handle. When you think of cloudy, cool and rainy – typically Seattle comes to mind. This May it has been sunnier, drier and warmer in Seattle than it has been in Boston. Currently, the average temperature in May for Boston is 56.3°. In Seattle, the average temperature is 56.7° - and with above average temperatures continuing, that average temperature will climb. Seattle has recorded rain 12 days this month and Boston has recorded 15!

Today was another beautiful day. Temperatures into warmed into the 70s with upper 60s at the coast. We have another couple unsettled days ahead before a prolonged stretch of sunshine. Showers (and maybe some thunderstorms) return on Memorial Day. Western New England will see rain during the morning and eastern New England will need the umbrella during the afternoon. Expect a ¼  - ½” of rain.

Showers are possible through the day on Wednesday. Temperatures however won’t be as cool. We’ll rebound back into the 70s by Thursday. We are not expecting much rain between Thursday and Saturday. Our next chance for showers (after early this week) will come a week from today.

The Climate Prediction Center is still forecasting above average temperatures this summer. We shall see if we can turn things around in June.
