Multiple Spinouts, Crashes as Snow Hits New England

Temperatures will be cold enough for everyone to begin as snow

It was a slow drive to work for many Monday morning as a burst of snow moving through New England is causing some spinouts and crashes.

Crashes have been reported on Route 62, Route 140, Interstate 93 south, Route 3 south, Interstate 95 north and the Massachusetts Turnpike.

A car crashed into the back of a tanker truck on I-93 North in Andover, Mass. with a possible fuel leak.

A tractor-trailer overturned on I-495 North in Haverhill and all lanes have been closed before Exit 50 as of 9 a.m.. Traffic is being rerouted.

Massachusetts State Police say the speed limit on the Mass. Turnpike is reduced to 40 MPH from the New York border to Interchange 9 in Sturbridge.

They added that drivers will need extra time for their commutes with crashes across the state.

Several people were injured in a crash in Middleton, Mass. rollover crash.

Snow will accumulate mainly on grassy surfaces but there could be icy patches on the roads.

However, temperatures will be warm enough that chemical pretreatments will be effective in the areas where snow remains light.

We're expecting the coating at the coast, an inch around Route 128 and up to two inches for the Worcester hills. Three-inch amounts are possible in interior Vermont and western Massachusetts. Snow will change to rain at the coast by noon time as temperatures climb to almost 40°.

We're catching a break from the active weather on Tuesday, when we're expecting sunny skies and temperatures in the low 40s.

The weather turns and settled again Wednesday and Thursday. Icy precipitation is possible, but it will quickly change to rain by the afternoon.

Much colder weather returns for Friday and into the weekend. High temperatures struggle to get out of the 30s. Winds will be strong, creating wind chills in the single digits.

More wintry weather is possible Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of the following week. Temperatures will range from the mid-30s to around 40.
