Tiny Naked Bird Wears Sweater Made Out of a Sock to Keep Warm

The bird has a disease that results in permanent feather loss

A sock company made a custom sweater for a small bird who suffered from a disease that resulted in permanent feather loss.

According to The Dodo, little lovebird Rhea caught psittacine beak and feather disease from another bird she used to live with, resulting in permanent feather loss.

Rhea's owner Isabelle Eisenmann, a Boston resident, started an Instagram account for the bird called "rhea_thenakedbirdie."

Eisenmann told The Dodo one of the challenges she faces caring for Rhea is keeping her warm.

She used heat lamps before a sock company took notice.

Suzanne Freeman, owner of Sock Buddies, made a custom sweater for Rhea out of a sock.

You can follow Rhea online and even hear her sing on her Instagram account.
