Son Arrested for Stabbing His Mom

He was scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday

A Worcester, Massachusetts man is facing charges after police say he stabbed his own mother following an argument early Thursday morning.

Around 1:48 a.m. Thursday, Worcester Police were called to a home on Terrace Drive for a reported stabbing. Upon arrival, the officers were met by a man who directed them to a 52-year-old woman was suffering from a stab wound to her lower back. The woman was conscious and alert, police said.

The victim told police that she was stabbed by her son, the same man who had opened the door to let police in. She said her son had a friend at the house and they had been drinking. When the friend left, the mother and son got into an argument. The son was holding a knife and swinging it around. The mother saw this and tried to leave the room. Her son then stabbed her in the back.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. She was treated and released.

The son, a 32-year-old man, is charged with assault and battery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (knife) and armed assault to murder. He was scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday in Worcester District Court.

The suspect's name is not being released by police in order to protect the identity of the victim.
