South Boston's Emergency One-Ways Staying Until June

The streets in South Boston turned into one-way roads following historic snowfall this winter will stay that way for another two months.

Boston Mayor Marty Walsh announced Tuesday that he's extending the South Boston Emergency Transportation Reconfiguration.

The program, which configured several streets in the neighborhood into one-way in an effort to improve public safety, was scheduled to end April 1. It has been extended to June 1, and the city will hold community meetings to determine if the changes should be made permanent.

The city made even numbered streets westbound and odd numbered streets eastbound, while main thoroughfares stayed two-way and original one-way streets kept their direction.
