Police say two people have died in a car crash in Bridgton, Maine.
Chief Kevin Schofield says the victims were passengers in a car that went out of control while trying to pass another vehicle and struck a tree on Route 302 south just before 6 p.m. Sunday.
The driver was taken to the hospital with what were described as minor injuries.
No names were immediately made public pending notification of family.
The chief says a preliminary investigation suggests excessive speed was a factor in the crash.
