Springfield, Mass., Car Chase Ends in Crash, Arrest

The suspects’ car was damaged in the chase but unclear what exactly it crashed into.

Two men have been arrested for allegedly shooting up a home and setting fire to a Jeep in the parking lot of 129 Chapin Street, Springfield.

When police responded to the scene, the suspects drove away, starting a car chase over the North End Bridge, and back around towards East Columbus Avenue where it ended.

The suspects’ car was damaged in the chase but unclear what exactly it crashed into.

Springfield Police Lt Richard Labelle told 22News that two police officers were hurt in the chase, as well as one of the suspects. All three were taken to the hospital.

The suspects, identified as 35-year-old Jose Garcia of Chicopee and 28-year-old Henry Quinones of Springfield are facing multiple weapon and motor vehicle charges. Lt. Labelle added that police believe the suspects threw a gun out of the window of their car during the chase, and police will send a dive team into the river to search for it.
