Police in Springfield, Massachusetts continue to look for a man considered armed and dangerous who they say was in a car that ran down two city police officers.

Meanwhile, two co-defendants are in court Wednesday to face charges connected to a string of alleged crimes that started late Monday night in Connecticut and involved a convenience store robbery in Springfield.

Police say they tried to pull over a vehicle with Rhode Island plates and three occupants wanted in connection with a shooting in Enfield, Connecticut.

The vehicle fled, striking two officers, who were treated and released from the hospital. Police opened fire at the fleeing vehicle.

After the car crashed at about 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, police arrested Derek Fernandes, of Pawtucket, Rhode Island, and Melquon Alford, of Springfield. The third person ran away.
