State Police: Domestic Assault Suspect Prevents Victims From Calling 911

Vermont State Police are investigating a domestic incident in the town of Rockingham.

Vermont State Police say a man prevented family members from calling emergency services during a domestic incident in the town of Rockingham.

Around 1:40 a.m. on Sunday, state police responded to a residence on Pleasant Valley Road. Investigation revealed 42-year-old Daniel Clayton had assaulted a family member and threatened to harm another. Clayton prevented the family members from calling law enforcement during this time, police said.

Upon arrival, Clayton fled into the woods behind his home. He was ultimately taken into custody without incident. He is charged with two counts of first degree aggravated assault and interference with access to emergency services.

Clayton is being held on $1,000 bail. He is set to appear in court Monday.
