Storms Starting to Move in Around New England

It’s not the best timing for these thunderstorms as they pick up in intensity for the Tuesday evening commute.

These drenching downpours, coupled with the threat of gusty winds and hail, could make for tricky travel conditions. With the humidity lacking, the reason for these juicy thunderstorms is the cold air aloft traveling over the warm land.

Most of these storms should be out of here by midnight, if not a few lingering downpours along the coast as storms taper by 10 p.m. as the best energy shifts offshore. Lows dip into the low to mid 50s south and near 50 degrees north.

After an active day today, Wednesday brings peeks of sun with a few spotty showers north. Highs crest into the mid-70s to near 80 degrees. Surface high pressure slides in across the region Wednesday night, resulting in light winds and comfortable humidity levels.

Then, a warm front moves through New England on Thursday bringing clouds and the threat of showers and a few thunderstorms. Warm front will also usher warmer and more humid air into the region. Highs on Thursday reach into the 80s.

Looking ahead to the weekend, warm and stormy weather looks to stick around. Then, just like clockwork, once we get to the afternoon hours Friday, Saturday and Sunday, we’ll see thunderstorms pop-up, with the highest risk for strong to severe storms occurring on Friday, otherwise Saturday and Sunday look to be hit or miss, so do not cancel any of those outdoor plans just yet, but keep your eyes to the skies.

High temperatures reach into the 80s this weekend.

Cold front traverses across the region on Monday, triggering a round of showers, but not a wash out.
