Stratton Brook State Park in Simsbury is closed to swimming as temps soar back into the 90's because of high bacteria levels in the water.
The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection collects weekly samples from state swimming areas. The swimming area at Stratton Brook State Park was closed Thursday after it tested positive for high levels of an “indicator bacteria.” DEEP said the bacteria is not necessarily disease-carrying, but it does hint at possible contamination. The water will be retested Thursday.
The rest of the park is still open to visitors.
