Strip Club Assault Suspect Deemed Danger to Society, Held Without Bail

Fifty-one-year-old John Peloquin was arrested for brandishing a shotgun outside a strip club in Springfield, Massachusetts, after an argument with his stepdaughter, who was dancing there.

A South Hadley, Massachusetts, man arrested for brandishing a shotgun outside a Springfield strip club where his stepdaughter was a dancer has been held without bail for four months after a judge ruled him a danger to society.

The Republican reports that a judge at a hearing Thursday called 51-year-old John Peloquin's behavior last Sunday "bizarre," despite hearing from Peloquin's 72-year-old mother, who said her son is a peaceful man.

Police say Peloquin threatened employees of the 5th Alarm Lounge after he was asked to leave for getting in an argument with his stepdaughter and an employee. He went to his car for the legally permitted gun, and used the stock to smash a club window.

Peloquin's lawyer says his client was distressed by his stepdaughter's career choice and wanted to stop her.
