Police arrested a student after he made a threat suggesting a school shooting on Twitter.

On Monday night at 9:30 p.m., a Haverhill, Massachusetts, High School student sent a tweet: "Ha I know who is going to shoot up the school tomorrow. At least I'm cool with em," he said.

Haverhill Police said they had the 11th grade student in custody within two hours. The student is being held without bail pending an arraignment.

Police do not believe the student had any weapons in his possession or at his residence.

Classes resumed normally Tuesday morning with increased police presence and security. No issues were reported.

School Superintendent Jim Scully sent a letter home to parents informing them of the incident, which he described as "a Tweet that involved the perceived threat of a violent act." He said at no time did police find any reason to suggest that there could be a violent incident at the high school. He said increased security were posted as a precaution only.

"I wanted to write to you today to confirm that these events, which you may have heard about today, did in fact happen," Scully wrote. "I also wanted to let you know that I am reassured by the results of the HPD investigation that there is not nor was there any reason for alarm regarding the safety or wellbeing of students or staff in or around Haverhill High School today."
