Suffolk University's Embattled President Fired

Suffolk's Board of Trustees voted to terminate Margaret McKenna Thursday

The embattled president of Suffolk University in Boston has been fired.

Suffolk's Board of Trustees voted to terminate Margaret McKenna Thursday.

McKenna was hired last year and only months into her presidency, a clash with the board broke out in part over allegations of lavish spending and an abrasive manner.

McKenna had reached an agreement to step down by the fall of next year, but now her departure has been accelerated.

Marisa Kelly, senior vice president for academic affairs, will serve as acting president.

The school has initiated the search for a new president.
