Suspect Arrested for 6th OUI Allegedly Rams Car into Mass. Store

A man who allegedly drove his car into the rear glass door of a Wilmington, Mass. store right before 2 a.m. on Friday, has been arrested.

Brian J. Caputo, 41, of Lowell, Mass., was arrested for his sixth Operating Under the Influence charge, after allegedly driving his car into The Corner Store on Shawsheen Avenue.

Caputo allegedly led Wilmington police on a chase before officers were able to stop the vehicle and take Caputo into custody.

The chase started when Officer Kevin Skinner saw a 2007 GMC Envoy driven by Caputo, speeding and moving erratically. According to police, Skinner tried to stop the vehicle, but Caputo drove off and turned onto a dead-end street in Woburn, Mass.

Caputo allegedly hit a parked vehicle at the end of the street and was blocked from exiting the cul-de-sac by multiple Wilmington police cruisers.

The suspect then allegedly put the vehicle in reverse before hitting two police cruisers and subsequently being arrested.

Caputo now faces several charges including, but not limited to Operating Under the Influence, Failure to Stop for Police, Resisting Arrest, Breaking & Entering in the Nighttime, Malicious Destruction of Property.

Caputo's arraignment will occur later today, Friday, August 26, at Woburn District Court.
