Suspect Charged With Binding, Robbing Man

Police have arrested a man they say handcuffed and blindfolded a man he'd met on Craigslist, then stole his car and money Tuesday in Arlington, Massachusetts.

Twenty-five-year-old Steven Michael O'Brien of Arlington was arrested Friday in Burlington for shoplifting at a business. Police soon realized he was wanted for the robbery earlier in the week.

Police say O'Brien had arranged to meet the victim on Craigslist, in a classified section where handcuffs and blindfolds were consensual. The victim was bound at his Spy Pond Parkway home before O'Brien allegedly stole cash and his 2008 Ford Edge.

The stolen car was found near the Alewife MBTA station in Cambridge.

O'Brien is being charged in Arlington with kidnapping, receiving a stolen vehicle and larceny over $250 on a person over 60. Additionally, there were two outstanding warrants for him out of Cambridge District Court.
