Man Jumps Off Tobin Bridge After Police Chase

49-year-old Mostafa Laassal led police in Chelsea, Mass. to bridge before leaping into safety netting and sustaining leg injuries

A suspect wanted for attempted murder in Malden, Massachusetts, led police on a chase before jumping off the Tobin Bridge and landing in a safety net that is in place while renovation work is being done.

Malden Police say 49-year-old Mostafa Laassal is accused of trying to kill someone with a knife during a domestic dispute in Everett Saturday morning. They confirm they put out a BOLO for the black Lincoln Town Car he was driving.

After Chelsea Police found the car parked at a Market Basket off Everett Ave, they say Laassal fled south toward Boston.

According to police, Laassal stopped near the toll booth on the bridge, got out of the vehicle wielding a knife and jumped over the guard rail, off the bridge.

Emergency personnel worked to pull Laassal from the netting. He was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital with leg injuries.

In addition to the attempted murder accusation, Laassal is charged with motor vehicle charges in Chelsea.
