A man called a serial killer by Connecticut police is considering whether to force prosecutors to prove in court that there was probable cause to arrest him.
William Devin Howell is scheduled to appear in New Britain Superior Court on Wednesday. His lawyer, William Paetzold, says the defense is still deciding whether to invoke Howell's right to a probable cause hearing.
Police say Howell, a native of Hampton, Virginia, killed six women and a man in 2003. All the bodies were found behind a shopping center in New Britain — three in 2007 and the others last April.
Howell already is serving a 15-year prison sentence for killing one of the victims. He was charged with the other six slayings last month.
Paetzold declined to comment on the pending charges.
