Suspects in Christmas Tree Theft Surrender to State Police

Two men have been arrested in connection with the theft and sale of more than 300 Christmas trees from a property in Arlington, Vermont.

The Burlington Free Press reports 29-year-old Philip Morse Jr. and 35-year-old Chad Morse turned themselves in to Vermont State Police at the Shaftsbury Barracks on Dec. 4.

Police say they were suspected of stealing 335 trees from a property. They were both charged with multiple felony counts of theft of real property.

They allegedly made a profit from selling the stolen trees and failed to notify the property's owner. The type of trees taken was not specified.

They are scheduled to appear in Bennington Criminal Court on Dec. 14.

A phone message seeking comment was left for Chad Morse; a number wasn't found for Philip Morse.
