For the second time this year, a Boston Sweetgreen location has closed after failing a health inspection.
The location on School Street was asked Tuesday to close voluntarily, and the restaurant complied.
"Today, Sweetgreen agreed to voluntarily close its Downtown Crossing location after a customer complaint and a city inspection," President and COO Karen Kelley said in a statement. "While the city provided us a week to address the issue, we chose to fix the problem immediately. We then took the proactive step to close for today to allow additional time to review all our kitchen equipment and our ingredients, as well as conduct an on-site training with our staff."
Back in August, the Sweetgreen in Back Bay was also forced to close for health violations.
Boston Inspectional Services received a tip of a foodborne illness at the location. The restaurant was inspected and failed. It was set to be inspected again Wednesday.
"The safety of our guests is paramount and we are currently working with the Boston Health Inspector so we can reopen as soon as possible," Kelley added.
