System Glitch Overcharged Parkers at Providence Mall

Providence Place Mall spokesperson Dante Bellini said Tuesday LAZ Parking, the company that runs the garage, is working with its technology provider to fix the problem

A Providence mall says a system glitch that overcharged more than two dozen patrons at the parking lot over the last two months is being fixed.

Providence Place Mall spokesperson Dante Bellini said Tuesday LAZ Parking, the company that runs the garage, is working with its technology provider to fix the problem.

LAZ Parking manager Keith Baez says every car that enters the garage has a picture taken of their front license plate. The system registers the license plate as paid when the ticket is paid and the person leaves the mall.

Baez acknowledged that if a ticket wasn't paid because the gates were already open as the person was leaving, their license plate may have remained in the system.

Bellini says at least 30 people have been reimbursed.
