Teacher Union, Board to Meet on 3rd Day of Strike

Teachers said the strike was prompted by the School Board dragging its feet in labor contract talks

The union representing teachers in South Burlington, Vermont, and school officials are scheduled to meet for negotiations as a strike in the district enters its third day.

Teachers said the strike was prompted by the School Board dragging its feet in labor contract talks. The teachers have not had a contract since June 30.

A school board official said the teachers' union offered no new proposals between June and Oct. 6.

Both sides are scheduled to meet Thursday afternoon.

On Wednesday night, many students, teachers and parents attended a regularly scheduled school board meeting to voice their frustrations over the strike.
