Teachers Charged for Sexual Misconduct

Two teachers at Chariho Regional High School in Richmond, Rhode Island, are accused of indecent solicitation of a student.

A current teacher and a former teacher in Rhode Island have been charged with sexual misconduct with a student.

Paul LaFrance, a 53-year-old business teacher at Chariho Regional High School in Richmond, is charged with indecent solicitation of a child and third-degree sexual assault.

Fifty-two-year-old former science teacher John Wedlock is also charged with indecent solicitation of a child.

Chariho serves students in Richmond, Hopkinton and Charlestown.

"Certainly, we are shocked and angered by these charges," said Superintendent Barry Ricci in a statement. "The bond between student and teacher is one of trust and that trust has been violated. The district will take immediate action to react to this incident in accord with our non-fraternization policy."
