Team MR8 Runners Participate in BAA 5K

Runners warmed-up Saturday for the Boston Marathon by participating in an annual pre-race tradition

Boston is ready to run. About 10,000 people took to the streets on an ideal day to participate in the Boston Athletic Association 5K.

You could call it a warm-up to the main event. "This is the World Series of running," said Scott Stader, who is running in his 60th marathon this weekend and his fourth Boston race. "Some of us were here a couple years ago for the tragedy and just honoring folks and running fast for them and trying to represent the best way possible."

That's exactly what Team MR8 is doing, too. More than 150 people ran the 5K in memory of 8-year-old Martin Richard.

"Thinking about kindness and the small things we can do to help each other and teach children to be nice to each other and just try to be better people," said runner Raymond Childs.

Many team members will be running the marathon as well. "It's exciting to be out here with the team getting ready for Monday," said Team MR8's Alley Kay. "Getting us all riled up, all excited for the big day on Monday."
