Investigators say the gunfire at Swasey Field Saturday, which injured two men, stemmed from a fight

Police have arrested a 16-year-old boy in connection with a shooting in Haverhill, Massachusetts, that happened near a youth baseball game.

Investigators say the gunfire at Swasey Field Saturday, which injured two men, stemmed from a fight.

It happened at a basketball court, just as a youth baseball game was getting underway nearby.

The teen was arrested Monday night at 8 p.m. at Temple and Reed streets.

Police say the suspect is known for being involved in gang activity. He was charged with two counts of assault to murder while armed, carrying a firearm without a license, carrying ammunition without a FID card and two counts of discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling. He was also arrested on a warrant out of Essex Juvenile Court for drug possession.

Police say they are increasing patrols and adding more surveillance around the park.

This weekend's Little League games have been cancelled.
