A 17-year-old has died after being found unresponsive in a swimming pool in Attleboro, Massachusetts.
Police are calling the death of Ibrahim Iqbal, a New York resident who was visiting relatives at the Crystal Village Apartments, an apparent drowning.
Authorities responded to the scene Wednesday afternoon on Commonwealth Avenue.
Iqbal was transported to the hospital, but did not survive.
According to police, Iqbal was swimming laps while his cousin was in the pool area. He had been swimming to the bottom of the pool and coming up for air, but at one point, he went down and did not resurface.
The Attleboro Fire Department said that a person waiting for a bus outside the apartment complex heard a woman screaming and ran into the area where the pool is located. He jumped into the pool after seeing the teen toward the bottom of the pool.
The incident remains under investigation.
