Teen Hurt in Snowmobile Crash

The nature of her injuries was not disclosed

Authorities say a 14-year-girl has been seriously injured after the snowmobile she was operating struck a tree head on in Great Barrington, Massachusetts.

Police and the Southern Berkshire Ambulance Squad responded to a 911 call reporting a snowmobile crash on West Plain Road at about 11:30 a.m. Sunday.

Police didn't release the girl's name, but said she is from the area.

She was flown by medical helicopter to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.

The nature of her injuries was not disclosed.

Police tell the Berkshire Eagle they think the girl was traveling at a moderate rate of speed when she failed to negotiate a corner before crashing.

The crash remains under investigation.
