Vermin Knock Out Power to Thousands Along Shoreline

Vermin are to blame for a power outage along the shoreline that theft thousands without power, according to Eversource officials.

Eversource reported a total of 12,241 without power late Friday afternoon. An Eversource spokeswoman said the outage originated at a substation in Madison and was caused by damage from some kind of “vermin animal.”

The hardest hit areas were Madison, with 4263 customers affected, Clinton with 4347 customers affected, Killingworth with 1956 customers affected and Guilford with 814 customers out.

Eversource officials said as of 5:40 p.m. power had been restored to all customers.
