Tornado Watch Expires in Massachusetts, Vermont

The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch through 8 p.m. Monday for one county in Massachusetts; an earlier watch for Vermont has expired.

The Tornado Watch was in effect for Berkshire County in western Massachusetts. Bennington County in southern Vermont was previously under the watch. Fifteen New York counties are also included in the watch.

A fast-moving line of thunderstorms will move into the watch area from New York late Monday afternoon with the reisk of tornadoes, scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph and the possibility of large hail.

A Tornado Watch means that conditions are favorable for severe thunderstorms to form, but also that a few storms may be cabable of producing a tornado.
