Town Launching “Birth Tree Project”

Williston, Vt.'s program celebrates the arrival of newborns and newly adopted children

A project in Vermont aims to preserve nature and give a sense of community pride.

The town of Williston is launching "The Birth Tree Project," which is designed to celebrate the arrival of newborns or newly adopted children.

The idea is to give parents a tree to plant on their property as a way to teach children about harmony in nature.

"Williston has a lot of people that are interested in the environment and also they support a lot of the activities for the families, so I thought this community would be interested in a project like that," Marie Claude-Beaudette of the project said.

The registration deadline for the 2014 Birth Tree Project is Aug. 28. Click here for more information.
