Tractor-Trailer Driver Killed in Crash in Vermont

Police responded to reports of the crash just north of the North Road overpass around 8 p.m.

Vermont State Police say the driver of a tractor-trailer is dead after going off the road on Route 7 and crashing into the woods in Sunderland Sunday.

People who stopped to help the driver reported the tractor-trailer went about 50 feet off the road.

When they attempted to help the driver they found him unconscious and not breathing.

He was transported to Southwest Vermont Medical Center and pronounced dead at the hospital. His identity has been withheld pending notification of family.

Initial investigation showed the driver drifted off the road and into the woodline and crashed into a large tree.

Route 7 was closed for several hours during the investigation.
