UMass Lowell Student loses Leg in Moped Accident on Martha's Vineyard

Noelle Lambert and her roommate were riding down Barnes Road in Oak Bluff when she lost control and hit a truck

A 19-year-old student at the University of Massachusetts Lowell lost her left leg in a serious accident Saturday on Martha's Vineyard.

According to the Eagle Tribune, Noelle Lambert, of Londonderry, New Hampshire, and her roommate were riding down Barnes Road in Oak Bluff, when her moped slipped on the shoulder of the road.  She tried to get back on her path, but went far away, lost control and hit a passing a dump truck. 

Lambert was airlifted to the Boston Medical Center and underwent two surgeries. She is expected to be moved to Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Charlestown. It is unclear how long she will have to spend in the rehabilitation facility. 

Lambert was playing lacrosse for the University of Massachusetts Lowell.
