UVM Among 8 Winners of ROTC Award

The U.S. Army Cadet Command announced that UVM and seven other schools are winners of MacArthur Awards

The University of Vermont's Army Reserve Officer Training Corps program is among eight college programs in the nation to be recognized for excellence.

The U.S. Army Cadet Command announced that UVM and seven other schools are winners of MacArthur Awards, recognizing the ideals of duty, honor and country.

The winners were selected from 275 ROTC units nationwide. The awards have been given since 1989.

The award is based in part on cadet performance and standing on the command's National Order of Merit list and on cadet retention rates.

Other winners are the Virginia Military Institute, the University of Wisconsin at Stevens Point, the University of Virginia, the University of Houston, Georgia Southern University, the University of Oregon in Eugene and Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee.
