Western Connecticut University Evacuated After Bomb Threat

Two buildings at Western Connecticut State University's main campus in Danbury were evacuated after an emailed bomb threat on Friday afternoon.

The Midtown Student Center, Newbury Hall, Haas Library and University Hall were evacuated and locked down, but Newbury Hall and University Hall have been cleared and students were allowed back inside.

School officials said they are not sure where the threat came from. The message, sent from an odd domain, named four buildings and said there were bombs in two of them, which prompted the evacuations.

University police and state police are investigating and they have brought in bomb-sniffing dogs. The school tweeted Friday afternoon that "alternate areas may be secured as necessary" while police investigate.

Officials said they do not believe the threat is credible.
