Upcoming Periods of Clouds, Showers

Though more clouds than sun will be found in Central and Southern New England for our Friday, it's a decent day for one and all after morning sprinkles departed from the South Coast.

Later this evening, showers will likely skirt the Berkshires and Connecticut into the first part of the overnight, riding well ahead of deeper spring air that will slowly build into New England - very slowly, meaning spread over days.

In the transition to the warmer air, periods of clouds and showers show up in the 10-day forecast, with nicer weather showing up in breaks along the way. Saturday, overall, is one of those breaks - lots of clouds will bubble up for the interior with a few sprinkles and highs just over 60, while coastal communities see a cooling sea breeze which also should keep the skies a bit clearer through the afternoon.

Sunday, our weather goes downhill - clouds will dominate with rain right out of the gate for Western New England, advancing east as the day progresses. Though it's possible Sunday morning features some dry hours in Eastern New England before showers develop from midday onward, inherent variations in timing rainfall make Saturday the safer and better pick, by far.

Rain should fall steadily Sunday night and showers will linger Monday, with an onshore flow and clouds likely to keep Monday the second consecutive day with some towns stuck in the 40s and others barely into the 50s...with the outside possibility of some snowflakes in the mountains! Tuesday and Wednesday look milder and brighter before more late week showers. If all goes as planned, the transition to milder weather yields a weekend of 65-70 degrees next weekend.
