Vermont Man Gets 5 Years in Prison for Role in Drug Network

A Vermont man has been sentenced to five years in federal prison for his role in a New York-to-Rutland drug network.

The Times Argus reports 27-year-old Justin Billings was sentenced Wednesday in Brattleboro federal court.

Drug Enforcement Administration agents arrested Billings in July 2012 on suspicion of selling heroin to a man later convicted of being a heroin supplier.

A search of his home in Hampton, New York, found 6,000 bags of heroin, $88,000, 10 guns and a car with a hidden compartment to store heroin.

Billings entered a plea agreement in 2013 and pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute more than 100 grams of heroin in Vermont and being an unlawful drug user in possession of a firearm.
