Authorities say an inmate who escaped a correctional facility in Vermont earlier Monday has been caught thanks to a citizen's tip.

Vermont State Police say it's believed 23-year-old Anthony Fitzgerald escaped from the Windsor County Correctional Facility in Windsor around 9 a.m. while working at the farm portion by cutting the wire fence.

He was incarcerated for lewd and lascivious conduct with a child. State police said they did not believe Fitzgerald posed a threat to public safety and wasn't armed.
