Vermont Woman Arrested for DUI During Home Invasion Investigation

A Vermont woman was arrested on a DUI citation as police tried to track down home invasion suspects in Arlington Tuesday night.

State police say 39-year-old Brandi Merrow of Arlington has been cited with driving under the influence and providing false information to a police officer.

Troopers were responding to a report of a home invasion on East Arlington Road around 11 p.m., but were told that the suspects had fled the scene while they were on the way, according to police.

Eventually troopers found a vehicle believed to be involved in the home invasion, and four people were detained on the scene. Although state police say the troopers were unable to develop probable case for charges against the suspects, Merrow was arrested and charged with DUI and providing false information.

She was later released with a citation to appear in Bennington County Superior Court on June 27.

The investigation is ongoing.
