Victim Calls Home Burglary a ‘Harrowing Experience'

Two homes were burglarized in Andover, Massachusetts, Thanksgiving night while families were sleeping in both houses.

Christopher Hildreth, 28, of Pembroke, New Hampshire, is now under arrest.

One of the victim's called it "a pretty harrowing experience for a few minutes."

He says he awoke around 4 a.m. to a loud car crash outside his home and then banging on the first floor.

Hildreth allegedly entered the house through an unlocked side door.

"He came in here and I hear noises downstairs, then all of a sudden I come down screaming for one of my roommates, and there he is in front of me, and he bolted out the front door and the cops nailed him right here," said the victim.

The victim describes it as a scary situation, barely able to see because his glasses were off.

It was also dark.

"I said what the heck are you doing here and he was incoherent, babbling, he was messed up."

Andover Police say Hildreth told them he was high on crack cocaine.

Before breaking into that victim's home on Lowell Street, police say Hildreth broke into another home on Kirkland Drive.

That homeowner says he found Hildreth standing in his foyer, and when he went to call police, Hildreth allegedly grabbed the phone away from him.

Hildreth allegedly fled the second house and was arrested by Andover Police on the front lawn.

Police also say he crashed a car nearby before breaking into both houses.

He's now facing a slew of charges including armed burglary, and assault and battery on a police officer for allegedly kicking police. Friday night he was at Lawrence General Hospital for examination. No word on an arraignment date yet.
