Victim Shot While Standing on Sidewalk in Hartford

A person was shot four times in Hartford on Wednesday night and police are searching for the shooter.

The victim, described only as a male, was standing on the sidewalk near 58 Judson Street just before 10:30 p.m. when a gunman came up behind him and started shooting, police said.

The shooter fired eight shots, hitting the victim four times as he tried to run away, police said.

In an attempt to get away from the shooter, the victim went into the Big Star Convenience store at 129 Barbour Street and was transported to Saint Francis Hospital, where he is listed in stable condition.

Police recovered a bullet fragment from the scene, but did not find any shell casings.

The shooter ran behind 57 Judson Street and police are investigating.
